It’s been a couple of days since we’ve been home from our romantic staycation in Atlanta and we are already talking about making this a yearly occurrence. Maybe even twice a year, take that short 3-hour drive to stay at the InterContinental Buckhead. We enjoy ‘just because’ mini trips, because we get to reconnect and refresh our relationship. We wanted to make a full romantic experience out of the weekend and were looking for a luxe property with things to do for romance and enjoyment. So when we looked into InterContinental Buckhead it was a no brainer.

Booking a staycation at a hotel for the weekend, either in or near your hometown, just to have a relaxing, pampering stay is a great gift idea for your significant other - perfect for birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, or just a random date night. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, a staycation at InterContinental Buckhead should be top of your list.

Where to Stay

Intercontinental Buckhead

If you are going to do a couples trip in Atlanta, you have to do it up big and the setting at the InterContinental Buckhead is perfect. It’s a luxurious, Atlanta hotel located in the prestigious Buckhead neighborhood that exudes decadence and romance from every corner. Which is why we choose it for the ultimate couples trip or staycation.

Upon checking in you will be greeted with their beautifully redesigned lobby. The lobby is grand with elegant European touches, stunning art, and lush gardens.

We stayed on the 22nd floor in a gorgeous Classic Suite which featured stunning views of the city and Stone Mountain. Even the bathroom was romantic wrapped in dark green wallpaper, with black and gold marble accents, and a deep soaking tub that comfortably fits two people!

One thing that makes a hotel the perfect place for a staycation is plenty of things to do in and near your hotel. We enjoyed the hotel so much we didn’t leave the entire weekend! Let’s get into all the amazing things to do:

What to Do

Couple Massages at Spa InterContinental

My favorite moment throughout our entire stay (besides all the amazing food) was easily our couple massages at Spa InterContinental, located inside the hotel. They offer guests a spa and wellness experience with a full menu of services. We enjoyed 90-minute couple massages that were mind blowing! From the moment we walked into our session we felt completely catered to and taken care of. If you are looking for a way to escape the busy city and relax, massages at Spa InterContinental will exceed your expectations.

Hotel Room Date

Our room was fit for a king and queen so we made sure to take advantage of it. When else can you enjoy breakfast delivered to you in bed as a couple? We ordered a sweet and savory mouthwatering breakfast that we enjoyed in our beds wearing our white fluffy robes. Breakfast in bed is something you have to do on a staycation. We are still talking about how those were some of the best pancakes we’ve ever had!

Let’s not forget the bathroom - fit for royalty. Brennan spoiled me with a rose petal bubble bath and a bottle of champagne. We had so much fun we didn’t even leave our hotel that night. Staying in the Classic Suite with the deep soaking bath will add the perfect romantic, decadent vibes to your couples trip. Thank us for the recommendation later!

Dress Up for Dinner & Drinks

I can’t make a post about our staycation without mentioning all the incredible food! The Americano, located in the lobby of InterContinental Buckhead, is an upscale Italian steakhouse and bar with incredible service, delicious food, and stunning aesthetics. The food and cocktails were amazing - everything from the taste to the presentation! Everything we had was 10/10 but the chef recommended focaccia, wagyu beef cheeks and ribeye were the best we’ve ever had. After dinner we had dessert and more cocktails. In our opinion you cannot visit The Americano without ordering the salted caramel budino for dessert and Pea’s and Thank You cocktail. The cocktails, service, and atmosphere make it perfect for a romantic date night in Atlanta.

Relax at the Pool

Who doesn’t love a heated year round pool on a romantic getaway? Next to the spa is the outdoor saltwater pool and bar. Another way for you to pamper yourself and your date is to relax and order snacks and drinks poolside. ‘Baecation’ mode is not fully activated until you get to hang out by the water.

Overall thoughts

If you find yourself looking for somewhere to stay your next couples trip, romantic getaway, staycation, or just date night, you should absolutely look into InterContinental Buckhead! It’s located in the heart of the city, so it’s the perfect place to stay so you can just walk or take a short ride to explore. Unless you’re anything like us, you won’t even want to leave the hotel. The hospitality is amazing, the property is immaculate, food is better than could imagine, and there’s so much to do for a romantic couples trip that you will never be bored. We loved our stay so much that we are already planning our next visit!
